Ten days lets you travel Hadoti the way it deserves, slowly, with room for the region’s quieter treasures and repeat mornings on the Chambal. You’ll see every major town, several off-beat temples and forts, and still have time for craft villages, wildlife and long lazy meals.

This is the itinerary for travellers who want depth over checklists: multiple overnights across Bundi, Jhalawar and the riverside heritage fort of Bhainsrorgarh, plus buffer days to wander markets and revisit favourite spots.

Best for: Slow travellers, heritage enthusiasts and photographers.

Before you go

  • Transport: book a car with a driver for the whole trip; public transport to rural sites is limited.
  • Where to sleep: Kota (nights 1, 2, 5, 8 and 9), Bundi (nights 3 and 4), Jhalawar or Jhalrapatan (nights 6 and 7).

Practical tips

  • Ten days means covering ground, book a car with a driver for the whole trip.
  • Spread your overnights (Bundi, Jhalawar, optionally Bhainsrorgarh) to minimise long daily drives.
  • Check Mukundara and Chambal boat arrangements with the Rajasthan Forest Department a few days in advance.
  • Many temple and fort sites are remote; carry water, snacks, cash and a torch.
  • Hire local guides at the major temples to fully appreciate the sculpture and history.
  • The ideal season is October to March; skip the extreme heat of May and June.

Frequently asked questions

Is 10 days in Kota too much?

Not if you treat Kota as the gateway to Hadoti. Ten days lets you see all four districts slowly, with two nights in Bundi, two around Jhalawar and spare time for markets and river mornings.

Do I need to stay outside Kota?

It saves a lot of driving. This plan uses two nights in Bundi and two around Jhalawar; Baran and Bhainsrorgarh are done as day trips.

How far are the Kolvi caves from Jhalawar?

Rajasthan Tourism places them about 90 km from Jhalawar town, so give them most of a day.

Can I include Menal and Bijolia?

Yes, but they lie on the road towards Chittorgarh, in a different direction. Swap them in for day 9 or follow our Kota to Chittorgarh road trip guide.

What is the best season for this tour?

October to March. Avoid the extreme heat of May and June; in the monsoon, waterfalls are at their best but rural roads can be difficult.
