About KotaRajasthan.net: An Independent Guide to Hadoti
KotaRajasthan.net is an independent travel and heritage guide to Kota and the wider Hadoti region of south-east Rajasthan: Kota, Bundi, Jhalawar and Baran, plus a few places just over the district lines such as Baroli, Menal and Bijolia.
It is not an official website. We are not part of the Government of Rajasthan, the Department of Tourism, Kota Nagar Nigam, the Kota Development Authority or any palace trust, and we do not sell tickets, tours or bookings.
What you will find here
- Place guides for the palaces, temples, lakes, viewpoints, forts and wildlife areas of Kota and Hadoti, each with history, what to see, practical details and nearby places to combine. Start at the places directory.
- Festival coverage, above all the Kota Dussehra Mela, with dates taken from the organisers’ own announcements.
- History: the history of Kota from the Hada Chauhans to the modern city, and the people who shaped it.
- Trip planning: itineraries from 2 to 10 days, the best time to visit and how to reach Kota.
- Food, crafts and the modern city: Kota kachori, Kota Doria, Kota Stone and the Chambal Riverfront.
How we research and correct pages
We work from public sources: the Rajasthan Tourism department, district administration websites, published histories, announcements by the bodies that organise events, and the knowledge of people who live in the region. Each guide lists the main sources we used.
Things change in Kota quickly. Ticket prices, opening hours, boat services and festival programmes are revised every season. When we cannot confirm a figure we say so and point you to where it can be checked, rather than printing a guess. Every guide shows the date it was last updated.
If you find something out of date or wrong, please tell us through the contact page. Corrections from people on the ground are the most useful thing we receive.
Photos
Photographs on this site are published under open licences (Creative Commons and similar) and are credited to their photographers on the page. Where we do not have a photo of the actual place, the page uses a simple illustration rather than a misleading stock image.
Advertising and independence
We do not accept payment for coverage of any place, hotel or event. If advertising appears on the site it is clearly marked and kept separate from the guides. See advertising for details.
