The Kota Dussehra Mela is a 125-year-old tradition and among the largest Dussehra celebrations in the country. Each autumn the Dussehra Mela Ground comes alive with gigantic effigies of Ravana, Kumbhakarna and Meghnad that are set ablaze before enormous crowds.
Beyond the ritual burning, the mela features a sprawling trade and craft fair, food stalls, amusement rides, national-level cultural performances (Rashtriya Kavi Sammelan, dance and music nights) and folk artists from across Rajasthan. It is the highlight of Kota's festival calendar.
