The Weavers of Kaithoon

Master artisans of Kota Doria

The featherlight Kota Doria fabric, with its signature square 'khat' checks, is the work of generations of skilled weavers concentrated in Kaithoon, near Kota. Tradition holds that the craft was encouraged by Kota's rulers who brought weavers to the region centuries ago.

Woven on pit looms from a blend of cotton and silk, Kota Doria is prized for its translucency and lightness, and now carries a Geographical Indication (GI) tag.

Contribution to Kota

These artisans gave Kota a globally recognised textile identity and sustain a living heritage craft that supports thousands of rural families.
